What Needs Maintaining — and How Often

How We Set Frequencies

Understanding the Service Intervals

Each piece of equipment is assigned a maintenance interval based on its risk, how hard it works, manufacturer guidance and any regulations that apply. These are the intervals used throughout this guide.

Quarterly

Every 3 months. Safety-critical items, hard-working pumps and anything where early failure carries real risk.

6-Monthly

Twice a year. Systems that benefit from a seasonal check — before and after heavy summer or winter use.

Annual

Once a year. The standard service interval for most fixed installations, appliances and certified equipment.

Varies

Some specialist and commercial systems mix weekly, monthly and annual checks — set by the relevant standard.
